ENERGY REPORT: Great ideas but they're not happening

New Zealand’s own scientists’ advice – that the country must move urgently to a low-carbon energy system – has been endorsed by the International Energy Agency, albeit in a sanitised way.

    Our electricity market and renewable generation are world-leading and we can easily reach 90 per cent of total generation and more, but market rules can be improved to enable the system to become more flexible and accommodate higher renewable shares of the generation mix.
