Ten years ago, New Zealandís first wood-to-bio-oil plant was about to open.

The demonstration plant, owned by a consortium that included forestry company Ernslaw One and the Governmentís Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority, was to turn one tonne of waste wood into 600kgs of bio-oil and 200kg of biochar.
