Ten years ago, forest owners were wondering whether to lodge their first claims for carbon credits under the Emissions Trading Scheme.

The forestry sector was the first to enter the scheme, passed by Parliament in late 2008. Owners of forests planted after 1989 had the option of registering with the scheme and claiming credits.


But in 2009, the new government was reviewing the scheme, leaving forest owners uncertain about whether they should take part. | Read the story here
