Ten years ago, the Government was under fire for cutting back green initiatives, sending a signal to businesses that they didn’t have to take sustainability seriously.

“They say, ‘Why should we do it if the Government isn’t?’,” Sempre Avanti managing director Gordon Shaw told Carbon News.

Climate minister Nick Smith said he had cut five Ministry for the Environment programmes because the Government wanted to focus on “frontline services that really matter for New Zealanders, not expensive slogans”. | Read the story here
