Ten years ago, the future looked bright for New Zealandís first tidal energy scheme, with Todd Energy taking a cornerstone stake in Crest Energy.

The company has resource consent to build a 200-megawatt tidal power station at Pouto, on the Kaipara Harbour.

In 2013, Todd extended its shareholding to 98.95 per cent, and put the project on hold.
