Cities critical to climate, Wellington tells Govt

ONE OF the country's largest local authorities says the Government 's plans for urban development are at odds with its programme for combatting climate change.

Changes to the Resource Management Act currently before Parliament will require local councils to take greenhouse gas emissions into account when granting resource consents and setting district plans.
