NZ eyes buying 80% international credits to meet target

NEW ZEALAND might buy international carbon credits to meet 80 per cent of its Paris Agreement emissions reduction commitment, a Government paper shows.

The Government considers access to international carbon markets to be critical to New Zealand’s ability to meet its post-2020 emissions target, and last night co-hosted a markets side-event at the COP22 international climate talks in Marrakech.
