Coal mining likely cause of China emissions rise

Coal mines emit methane gas, a short-lived climate pollutant that is more potent than carbon dioxide at warming the planet over the short term but doesn't last as long in the atmosphere

 

SATELLITE DATA collected from 2010 to 2015 show that China's methane emissions increased unabated during that period and that the increase was most likely driven by coal mining.
