Ten years ago, infrastructure company Vector was telling Parliament that cross-party support was the most important thing that could come out of a review of the Emissions Trading Scheme.

“Firms are going to require considerable convincing that any policy pronouncements arising out of the current review represent an enduring commitment to stable policy,” it told the select committee reviewing the fledgling scheme.


It was also calling for the scheme to cover all gases and all sectors, saying the proposed staging of the introduction of various sectors and the allocation of free carbon credits to some emitters, “failed the test of inter-sector equality”. | Read the story here
