Big Four's free credits top $1 billion mark

FOUR COMPANIES have been given a total of more than $1 billion worth of free carbon credits in the latest round of subsidies under the Emissions Trading Scheme.
Glenbrook steel mill operator New Zealand Steel is the biggest recipient of taxpayers’ largesse, followed by Rio Tinto, Methanex and Fletcher Concrete and Infrastructure.
